IeSpell is a spell checker add-on for Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser. It checks all the text boxes on the current webpage, as the users type in data. It comes in very handy for those who do a lot of web-based text entries, such as those in e-mails, forums, and blogs.

Mozilla and other popular browsers have spell checkers integrated, and this add-on helps IE keep up with them. The main difference is that this add-on stores and uses the personal word list across all Microsoft applications, instead of keeping separate ones for each application.

ieSpell has options to add or remove words to its dictionary, plus it ignores URLs and email addresses. If a word is not found, the users are given the option to look it up in Merriam Webster, Wikipedia and other search services.

This version was released recently, and minor but important changes have been added, like Windows 7 compatibility and Internet Explorer 8 integration. Large documents are now revised faster, for the parsing scripts have been enhanced. Additionally, the “Lookup” function scrollbar bug has been corrected.

ieSpell is accurate and fast, but some people find that it takes longer to correct spelling, compared to other Web browsers where one only needs to choose the correct spelling from a context menu.
